My whole career has been built on one idea: that government, business, and technology should work for people — not just for those who profit from them. I've spent more than twenty years making that idea real. Protecting workers from illegal surveillance. Tracking how money and influence corrupt public policy. Building safeguards that actually hold powerful institutions accountable. Creating rules for technologies that were changing people's lives before anyone in power thought to ask whether that was a good thing. I'm not a career politician. I'm a watchdog, a builder, and someone who has devoted her life to making power answer to people.

I helped build them — the coalitions, the institutions, and the frameworks that brought public oversight and practical safeguards to technologies that were moving faster than anyone in power was prepared to handle.
